Introduction
This section explains how you can connect your Smappee:
- link your Smappee to your Wi-Fi router
- assign your Smappee to your account in the App and the
Smappee cloud
Background
- Smappee needs to connect to your Wi-Fi
router. For
that purpose, you need to provide Smappee with the access information
of your home Wi-Fi router (SSID name, password).
- You have two methods to connect Smappee to your home Wi-Fi
router:
- By WPS: connect by WPS (recommended)
- Enter Password: connect by entering the Wi-Fi password
- Once Smappee is connected to your Wi-Fi network, it will
automatically contact the cloud. There, your new Smappee will
be
linked to your App account.
- To see the Smappee that is linked to your account, select
menu
item "Locations". The screen shows the serial number of your
Smappee.
Change Wi-Fi settings (By WPS)
- Use this method, if your Smappee is already linked to your
App account.
- You connect Smappee to your home Wi-Fi router by using WPS.
Change Wi-Fi settings (Enter Password)
- Use this method, if your Smappee is
already linked to your App account.
- Smappee will briefly open its own Wi-Fi
Access
Point. You should connect your smartphone to that Access
Point.
Once connected, you can choose the SSID name of your home
router
and enter the Wi-Fi password.
- With that information, Smappee will
then connect to your Wi-Fi router.
Replace Smappee
- This function unlinks the
"old" Smappee
from your account and replaces it with a "new" Smappee.
- The new Smappee will be linked
to your
Wi-Fi
network, connect to the Smappee cloud, and then linked to your App
account.
- You will keep all your data. They are securely stored on
your
Account
on the Smappee cloud.
- Use this function only if you
want to
discontinue the use of the "old" Smappee monitor.
Repeat Smappee Installation
- This function repeats the
installation
of your Smappee if previous attempts have failed.
- The new Smappee will be
(re-)linked to
your Wi-Fi
network, (re-)connect to the Smappee cloud, and then (re-)linked to
your App account.
- Note: If the Smappee monitor shows a green heartbeat (soft
flashing), it is already linked to the Wi-Fi, the Smappee cloud and an
account. Thus, it usually is not
necessary to repeat the installation.
